At August Gate, elders, their wives, deacons, and ministry team leaders seek to lead our people as they look to Jesus, the Senior Pastor of our church (Ephesians 4:15, 1 Peter 5:4). An elder is a pastor who shepherds through protecting, teaching, leading, managing and caring for the needs of Jesus' people (1 Peter 5:1a, 2a).
From a small town in Southeastern Illinois, Noah began his ministry journey during his college years at Mckendree University and then came back home where he served as a youth pastor. In 2006, God began to call Noah and Heather into church planting, leading Noah to earn his MAR and M.Div at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. By 2009, August Gate launched in the school building of Trinity Lutheran Church in Soulard as a plant from Matthias' Lot Church. In addition to leading August Gate, Noah also serves as the Send City Missionary for the North American Mission Board. Some of his hobbies include fitness and nutrition, reading, and beard growing. Noah and his wife Heather are blessed with five children: Allie, Chaim, Piper, Haddon, and Dox.
Kevin has a huge heart for his role as the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor. Kevin met his wife Crystal in college and soon after, moved to Florida to lead as a worship director, and then as a youth pastor. He then met Noah and joined the August Gate team in 2012 to help launch the Metro East gathering. Aside from writing and playing music, Kevin enjoys woodworking and anything that allows him to be creative. Kevin and Crystal have six children: Carter, Cooper, Keller, Carsen, Cohen, and Kenna.
When he's not roasting coffee, you can find Vince leading in his role as the Community and Discipleship Pastor. After meeting his wife Cristen, God put a call on his heart for community in 2012. When they found August Gate Metro East, they immediately found a place to call home. The Bisseys have four children: Alec, Isaiah, Jara, and Luke.
As Granite City natives, Bryan and his wife Kristen have deep roots in their community. Having found August Gate in 2010, they have both served in various roles in the church, with Bryan becoming an elder in 2018. Bryan, Kristen, and their two children, Elijah and Emery, still live in Granite City. You can find Bryan writing, woodworking, and gardening.
