Mission and Vision

It is the mission of August Gate Church to be disciples of Jesus who make more disciples by gathering around the Gospel, growing in community and going on mission.

The vision of August Gate Church is to make disciples and saturate the St. Louis Metro region with Gospel-centered, missional churches. We see thousands of people all over Illinois and Missouri gathering around the Gospel to worship Jesus, growing in the Gospel by coming together in homes throughout the week and going with the Gospel as they live out what they believe in their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools and cities.

What does our name mean?

In rural communities, August is the month that everyone’s eyes turn toward the Harvest. The St. Louis region is commonly referred to as the Gateway to the West. August Gate is simply a play on words that means “Harvest the City”. We hear Jesus speak about this harvest in Luke 10:2:

‘And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’

Partners in Mission

August Gate Church is fortunate to have several churches in Illinois and Missouri support us in many different ways. The following churches have served or are currently serving as partners in mission with August Gate Church:

We are pleased to be affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention which allows us to partner with the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board to take the Gospel and plant churches domestically and internationally. August Gate Church is also a member of Plant St. Louis, a Gospel-centered, church planting network training, assessing and equipping church planters to take the Gospel to cities and regions to which God has called them.
